The Dating Game

Night of: January 31
People Involved: Chris, Dana Chambers

I'm at a party and everyone's playing a dating game. By the looks of it, a guy picks a girl, and a girl picks a guy, and they see if they picked each other. To help pick, make out sessions occur. I don't really understand the game, but I know I have to pick a girl.
I recognize Dana and pick her. Chris then says, "You picked HER? She looks a little young."
"Yeah... she's not, though," I reply. She's my age or maybe a year younger.
"Well I have pictures of you making out with fifteen year olds."
Now I'm upset at Chris and embarrassed about the whole thing. I can see that it's Dana's turn to pick, and Chris is trying to make her pick someone else. I don't understand what he's trying to do, unless he likes her. Just as she's picking, I decide to walk away... but I know she's picking someone else, anyway. I pack up my things and leave. If Chris sees me leave, I'll just say something obscene.

In Retrospect: The book I'm reading says to write in the present tense, so I'm trying it. I'm finding it difficult... it's quite different.

i like present tense dreams.
i believe i tried to write some of mine in present tense back when i used to have dreams, and i found it equally difficult. i think i ended up slipping into past tense every time.

Yeah, I slipped up lots of times and had to consciously think of how to phrase things. I guess it's supposed to help you go back into the moment.
