The SLO Bus

Eric = kid from high school
Max = neighbor at ucsc

I was staying in an apartment somewhere in New Zealand. The furniture was all brown and the walls were made of wood, it was very seventies. Eric was there and said that he wasn't looking forward to the flight home. I asked why and he said it was going to be 19 hours long. There wasn't much to do there and everyone was just running around this big apartment trying to occupy theymselves. Max was there and I wished he weren't.
I was now at Cal Poly SLO. I left the aparment I was staying in for a minute and when I tried to find my way back I couldn't. I hithced a ride with these random guys and we were driving down a hill toward the base of campus. There were a bunch of really shady guys standing around on the road. When they stopped the car all the shady guys would look at me and some of them would walk up to the car and harass me. One of the guys in the car with me offered to come sit back there with me. I told him no thanks, that I was fine. He insisted upon it, and I told him that I really didn't trust him and that I would rather be back here by myself. We kept driving and when we got to the end of the road I asked them to let me out of the car. I asked them for directions back up to the campus. They told me to just walk down this street and make a right at the street beggining with the letter "S". I asked if they were sure they didn't mean take a left, they said no it was definetly right. I thanked them, and as they were driving away I thought that about it, and if I made a right I was almost positive it would take me even farther from the campus. I wondered if the guys where telling me the wrong directions on purpose. I decided maybe it would be best to take the bus, considering the shady people that were hanging around. So I ran to catch up to a bus stop. When I got there I tried to look at the scheduals but they were built very high up and were very complicated. The bus pulled up and I asked the driver if the bus went to the top of campus. She said it did. The floor of the bus was at about cheast-level, so I had to climb on to it. As I did so I heard some of the people on the bus laughing at me and say something like "she could have just used the stairs". I figured there must have been stairs on the door that I didn't see. I asked how much the faire is, and after thinking a little while, the driver and what must have been her student assistant said 5 dollars. I said bullshit, there's no way it could cost that much, and gave them two dollars, which was still too much. I still didn't remember where my apartment was, but I got off the bus in an area that looked familiar and started walking.
